This guide will help you choose the right size stability ball for use in the gym and when purchasing one for yourself to use for home workouts or to sit on in your home office.
Choosing the right size.
In the many years that I've offered my coaching and personal training from commercial gyms, they rarely have the stability balls at the proper inflation level.
So here's how to avoid softballs in the gym,
or anywhere else, for that matter….!
The quickest way to choose the right size stability ball
is to stand next to it and make sure the height of the ball is 2-3 cm above the level of your kneecap.
If inflated correctly, it shouldn't compress any more than 2-3 cm.
When you sit on it, your thighs should be parallel to the ground, and your knees should be bent at a 90-degree angle.
If that's not the case and you have to use what's available, the only way to correct that is to get something, raise it up a little, and bring yourself back to the right level.
Softballs can make your life more complicated; sorry,
I mean your training is more challenging, so to make things easier.
